Sushma Nandyala
I am a PhD Scholar in Ophthalmology at Dr. Rajendra Prasad Centre for Ophthalmic Sciences, AIIMS New Delhi, currently in the final phase of my doctoral training. My research focuses on infectious keratitis and advanced corneal therapies. I completed my integrated master’s degree in Optometry and Vision Sciences from the University of Hyderabad, where I was awarded a gold medal.
My areas of expertise include corneal infections, corneal collagen cross-linking, anterior segment disorders, and the optics of the crystalline lens. I have authored over 15+ indexed scientific publications and presented my work at more than 20 national and international conferences, receiving multiple awards and travel fellowships.
In addition to research, I serve as a peer reviewer for indexed journals and work as an Associate Editor. I have experience in clinical research, data analysis, and scientific writing, with a strong interest in translational ophthalmology and evidence-based practice.

Many promising lab discoveries fail to translate into clinical success due to gaps between experimental design and real-world patient care. This webinar is aimed at basic scientists and early-stage researchers who want to improve the clinical relevance of their work.
Drawing from my experience in ophthalmic clinical research, I will highlight how collaboration with clinician-scientists can address these gaps. Attendees will gain a clearer understanding of how to design research that is practical, patient-centered, and more likely to succeed in clinical settings.
In this webinar, you will learn:
How to identify clinically relevant research questions by aligning lab work with real patient needs
How to design experiments and endpoints that are feasible, measurable, and meaningful in clinical settings
Common translational mistakes to avoid when moving from bench research to clinical studies
Explore practical insights to bridge the gap between lab discoveries and real-world patient care.
